Life Transitions & Relationship Support
Whether it is the transition into motherhood (matrescence), the "empty nest," a career pivot, or the end of a relationship, major life changes often trigger more than just stress—they can destabilize your mental health. At Vita Psychiatry for Women, Dr. Danielle Craig understands that these milestones often coincide with biological shifts that make women more vulnerable to mood and anxiety symptoms. We provide a medical anchor during these turbulent times, ensuring that your nervous system is supported so you can make decisions from a place of clarity rather than crisis. We specialize in helping women process these transitions through a lens of self-compassion and clinical expertise.

Our Process
Providing a clear and supportive roadmap for your wellness journey.
Holistic Life-Stage Assessment
We begin with a 75-minute consultation that looks at the "big picture." Dr. Craig evaluates how your current life transition is impacting your sleep, mood, and physiological health.
Targeted Symptom Management
If a life transition has triggered clinical insomnia, anxiety, or depression, Dr. Craig provides expert medication management to stabilize your symptoms so you have the energy to navigate the change.
Identity & Role Transition Support
We focus on the concept of "matrescence" or "menopause-transition," helping you understand the biological reasons why you may feel "unlike yourself" during these shifts.
Integrated Therapy Coordination
Because transitions often require deep "talk work," Dr. Craig collaborates closely with your therapist or provides referrals to specialists who focus on life-design, grief, or relationship counseling.

Find Your Footing in Times of Change
Support your mental health during life’s most demanding pivots with a specialist who views your wellness through a whole-woman lens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Providing clarity and peace of mind as you begin your care.
Do I need a "diagnosis" to see Dr. Craig for life transitions?
While Dr. Craig is a medical doctor who diagnoses and treats psychiatric conditions, many women seek her care because they are struggling to function during a major life shift. We will determine during your intake if your symptoms meet the criteria for an adjustment disorder or other condition that would benefit from medical support.
What is "Matrescence" and do you treat it?
Matrescence is the physical, emotional, and social transition into motherhood. Much like adolescence, it is a period of massive upheaval. Dr. Craig provides the psychiatric support to help manage the anxiety and mood shifts that often accompany this identity change.
Can you help with relationship-related stress?
Relationship strain is a major trigger for mental health symptoms. While Dr. Craig does not provide couples therapy, she provides the individual psychiatric care needed to manage the depression or anxiety that can stem from relationship difficulties or divorce.
How is this different from seeing a regular life coach?
As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Craig can identify when a "life transition" has crossed the line into a clinical condition that requires medical intervention, such as medication or laboratory work, which a coach cannot provide.
