About Us

Meet Dr. Danielle Craig, M.D.
Board-Certified Psychiatrist | Women’s Mental Health & Reproductive Psychiatry
Dr. Danielle Craig is a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to caring for women through the deeply personal seasons of life that shape mental health—pregnancy, motherhood, hormonal transitions, loss, and the many responsibilities women carry for their families and communities.
Her passion for women’s mental health is not only professional, but personal.
As a mother of three, Dr. Craig understands firsthand the profound transformation that pregnancy and motherhood bring to a woman’s life. Alongside the joy of welcoming children, she has also experienced pregnancy loss, an experience that deepened her understanding of the quiet grief and emotional complexity many women carry. These experiences strengthened her conviction that women deserve psychiatric care that is both clinically excellent and deeply compassionate—care that sees the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Craig specializes in women’s mental health and reproductive psychiatry, helping patients navigate the psychiatric symptoms that often accompany different stages of a woman’s life. She currently practices in the Reproductive Mental Health Specialty Clinic at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, where she built a multidisciplinary program integrating psychiatry, psychology, and social work to provide comprehensive care for women veterans. In recognition of her leadership and dedication to patient care, she was honored as Distinguished Woman of the Year at the Kansas City VA Medical Center in 2023.
Dr. Craig completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident and continues to teach and supervise psychiatry residents as volunteer faculty. She received her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, where she was awarded the Frank J. Menolascino Outstanding Student in Psychiatry Award.
She is also a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognizing physicians who exemplify compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Craig earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, graduating summa cum laude from Truman State University, where she developed a strong foundation in human physiology, exercise science, and the role lifestyle plays in physical and mental health.
This background informs her integrative approach to psychiatry today. In addition to medication management when appropriate, she works with patients to explore lifestyle interventions that support mental well-being, including sleep, movement, nutrition, stress regulation, and daily rhythms that promote emotional stability.

Faith-Informed Care
Dr. Craig’s approach to psychiatry is informed by the belief that every person possesses inherent dignity and worth. Her practice reflects a holistic view of health that honors the integration of mind, body, and spirit.
For patients who desire it, Dr. Craig welcomes the integration of your faith, as part of the healing process. Her goal is to create a space where women feel respected in their beliefs and supported in the many dimensions of their lives.
Dr. Craig's care is grounded in evidence-based psychiatry, thoughtful collaboration, and deep listening, ensuring that each patient receives personalized treatment aligned with her values, goals, and life circumstances.
