Expert Stability for Life’s Ebbs and Flows.
Bipolar Disorder presents unique complexities for women, particularly because hormonal transitions—such as the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and the postpartum period—can significantly impact mood stability and medication efficacy. Whether you are managing Bipolar I, Bipolar II, or cyclothymia, you deserve a psychiatrist who understands the intersection of reproductive health and mood stabilization. At Vita Psychiatry for Women, Dr. Danielle Craig provides a high-touch, medical approach to help you navigate these transitions safely. Our goal is to provide the clinical expertise and consistent monitoring necessary to minimize episodes and help you lead a balanced, fulfilling life.

Detailed Diagnostic Intake
We begin with an extensive 75-minute evaluation to accurately diagnose your condition, distinguish it from other mood disorders, and review your full psychiatric and reproductive history.
Precision Medication Management
Stability is the priority. Dr. Craig provides expert management of mood stabilizers and other medications, with a specific focus on safety and efficacy for women who are planning a family or are currently pregnant.
Life-Stage Safety Planning
We create proactive "wellness plans" for high-risk periods, such as the postpartum window, ensuring you have the support and medication adjustments needed to prevent relapse during major life shifts.
Collaborative Care Coordination
Bipolar care requires a team. We work closely with your OB/GYN, therapist, and other providers to ensure your treatment is cohesive and that everyone is aligned on your path to stability.

Frequently Asked Questions
Providing clarity and peace of mind as you begin your care.
Can I stay on my bipolar medication if I want to get pregnant?
This is a specialized area of Dr. Craig’s practice. We provide comprehensive risk-benefit counseling to help you weigh the risks of medication against the risks of an untreated mood episode, creating a plan that keeps both you and your baby safe.
How does the postpartum period affect Bipolar Disorder?
The postpartum period is a "window of vulnerability" for women with Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Craig specializes in preventing and managing postpartum mood episodes, including postpartum mania or depression, through proactive planning.
What is the difference between Bipolar I and Bipolar II?
Bipolar I involves at least one manic episode, while Bipolar II is characterized by patterns of depressive episodes and "hypomanic" episodes (less severe than full mania). During your 75-minute consultation, Dr. Craig will help clarify your specific diagnosis.
Do you offer therapy for Bipolar Disorder?
Vita Psychiatry for Women focuses on the medical management and diagnostic side of care. While we provide supportive counseling, we will refer you to expert therapists who specialize in Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) or CBT to complement your medical treatment.
